Sudden deafness affects men and women at an equal rate with the average age of onset between mid 40s to mid 50s<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts suspect that the current estimate of cases, one in every 5,000, is significantly lower than actual cases because many go unreported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sudden Hearing Loss Symptoms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The onset of sudden hearing loss differs between patients. Some report waking up and noticing their hearing seems different, while others hear a loud pop before their hearing goes away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to a loss of hearing, many report a feeling of fullness in the ear, dizziness and tinnitus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
